TRUMP... IN THE TWILIGHT ZONE...

As time goes by day by day.... are we watching the "fuse" burn slowly to ignite a massive
EXPLOSION and the DESTRUCTION OF OUR DEMOCRACY? Or, are we watching the Trump "burning bush" slowly burning down into ASH? Are we in the midst of the
TWILIGHT ZONE?Or, is this simply
TWILIGHT TIME?
Just yesterday the Electoral College members gathered in their appropriate locations - some safe and others not so safe - and cast their votes as defined by the votes scored by the candidates for President and Vice President. As foretold, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were designated as President and Vice President Elect. Trump, on the other hand, lost for the second and last time before the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) in a last-ditch attempt out of Texas to frustrate the American elections and voters by reversing the outcome and having himself declared "elected." Again rejected by the Supreme Court - even with three members appointed by himself - President Trump - this loss preceded the meeting of the Electors in their respective states - and cleared the legal path to cast their designated votes for those who carried their states. In the end, of the 538 Electoral votes available and 270 necessary to be declared the President and Vice President Elect, the Biden/Harris Democratic team received 306 votes vs. Trump/Pence with 232 - a clear victory. Better yet, Biden/Harris scored the highest number of actual votes across the country -
81.3 MILLION VOTES - in the history of the nation. Trump, on the other hand, scored 47% of the votes cast with a total of 74,224,000.
Trump filed more than 50 court cases to overturn the legitimate election that took place in 2020. He lost over and over. Yet, Trump continues to attack. His attack targets are Republicans, Democrats, Independents, State Election Officers of either and both parties, Courts - including the Supreme Court of the US, his own Attorney General, his own Federal Election Monitor and investigator, Republican Governors and Secretaries of State, and more. And, even now, Trump continues to attack the outcome, get media air time on right-wing TV, radio, and on-line... and spew forth poison in his continuing attempt to MURDER OUR DEMOCRACY! This has got to STOP!
Biden, on the other hand, is attempting to soothe the anger that Trump has generated via Q-Anon, the Proud Boys, and others who are attempting to add gasoline to the Trump fire.
"Trumplicans" - Republicans who now have transitions into the
TRUMP CULT, have bid a "farewell" to the conservative Republicans of Reagan, Bush, and McCain. So far, very few elected Republicans have stood up to the Trump threat of "bashing" them when they are next up for election. In fact, Trump is hinting that he will control the Republican Party, continue the
"GRAND CON" of the American Voters, and oppose their next election. His plan is to add them to the Republican "trash heap" of those who do not genuflect before the Trump throne. A complete disgrace! And, a continuing attack on our Democracy! The Trump "beat" goes on..... and we must
STAND UP!
So... are we entering the "TWILIGHT ZONE"... or "TWILIGHT TIME???" The song by the Platters in 1958 - "Twilight Time", contains lyrics that read in part,
"Heavenly shades of night are falling... it's twilight time..."
"In the afterglow of day, we keep our rendezvous beneath the blue.....
I fall in love again as I did then... together at last at twilight time."
I love this country. And, as I have aged, retired, and worried about the future of our nation after 2016, I hope that the Biden/Harris election and the Trump defeat takes us out of the TRUMP TWILIGHT ZONE of American politics and governing. I pray that the 2020 election brings us back to the nation built on the American Dream, the US Constitution, and our historic governmental norms - beyond Twilight Time.. and into the 21st Century. I want to witness our edging evermore and ever closer to being the global example of democracy, equality, opportunity, and caring for one another - especially those in great need. Perhaps we can return to the phrase that is etched on the Statue of Liberty -
"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...
the wretched refuse of your teeming shore...."
You and I - all of us - will shape our future... and tell the tale. As many have this past November 3rd, 2020.... continue to Stand Up! Speak Out! and March On!
